Tatiana was born in Moscow, Russia to her Russian father and her mother who was from Japan. She grew up and learned Russian and was also taught Japanese while living in Moscow.
When she was about ten, she was sent to Japan to live in with a family in Japan where she'd meet Goki and his family. They were a little strange to her and Goki, being three years older than her seemed just as odd.
Tatiana would live with them, learning their ways and culture. Also how Grandma's word was basically law and how to get on her good side. It took time; plenty of offerings of food and learning pranks to even be considered a part of the family
One year, at the advice of Grandma, she was told she should go see her family back in Russia but right before she left, she learned that Goki was going to move and live in America. She was heartbroken to watch him leave but with a stiff upper lip, she didn't stop him as he left her with a wave. She went and just hugged Grandma and stayed by her side until she went back to Russia for a week. Which was good since their house ended up being flooded!
When Tati returned, she lived with her adoptive Grandma, going to school while also just taking care of her as well. She loved her like her own Grandma back in Russia. Somehow, in the care and fun of living with her adoptive grandmother, she found herself in a spot of trouble. It was winter and she had been heading back home when she saw a man who looked to be wandering off to nowhere in the woods. So, Tatiana stopped him and had to all but force him to return to the city where he seemed to snap out of it. On her own way back home once he was safe, she took a path and then found herself suddenly pinned in the snow and an angry woman shrieking at her until it all went black. When Tati woke, she was in the hospital and utterly freezing.
When Grandma came and picked her up after a full day and night there, she told her what happened. The icy woman, the man she helped, the cold that just clung to her. She even appeared to be touched by frost and no longer as warm to the touch. After some sleuthing and reading, it was learned that she might have been cursed by a Yuki-onna because she interrupted her while she was stalking someone. It took some trial and error but when it was confirmed it rattled the young woman to her core because she had no idea how to get uncursed and Grandma was slightly perplexed on how to banish this curse peacefully without harming the man that had been saved. It took a little time but as a final suggestion to get some space from Japan and the closeness of the ghost, she was told to head to America and see if distance helped even a smidge. It was hard but eventually, she left with her elders blessing and a good luck token; a white jade bracelet that was fitted onto her wrist, she headed off to America.
Tatiana did not immediately go straight to Goki, she took some time to travel a little and explore, dealing with the freak events that befell her from the curse as she tried to get a better handle on it- news flash it wasn’t working great. After an extremely distressing moment with this, she decided to finally locate her dear friend that left her all those years ago. For both comfort and maybe some help with what was going on with her.

To current times, she had been struggling with the feeling of being watched and followed no matter where she went. When the massive snowstorm hit and she went out with Goki during it, she was attacked by the Yokai that had been hunting her and in a swirl of snow, claimed her new hoast.
Both were unaware and Tatiana more so as she was experiencing black outs and waking up with frost on her fingertips and the feeling of cold even more prominate.
She slowly was growing aware that something was happening but this time, did not have the wisdom of her adoptive grandmother to lean on.
