Instructions
Do you want to make an addition to the lore on Three on a Match? We're open to players making stories their own, but we also see the necessity to record and ensure it's internally consistent with pre-established lore.

Minor details and businesses do not need to be submitted here, as confirmed myths and folklore found through appropriate sources are all considered "true" in our world, and we already have a process for businesses. However, larger organisations or other lore details that might be known to multiple people or be rooted deeply in magic must be submitted. Keep in mind pre-existing groups, both canon and player-made, listed on the Existing Groups page, and play nice in the sandbox.

The most relevant for this section are groups or organisations out in the world. Any other manner of lore can be adapted to the below at a player's discretion, although we always maintain the right to ask for elaboration or additions.

After posting, tag @admin in the #mod-request channel on the Discord server.

Code:
[b]Title:[/b] (What does the group or organisation go by?)
[b]Location:[/b] (Where is the group or organisation located?)
[b]Interactions with the world:[/b] (How are they perceived by the world around them? Additionally, you must define their interaction with the Exchange, both in the US and abroad, and other global organisations dedicated to supernatural concerns. Do they fly under the radar, are they at odds, or do they cooperate? Why?)
[b]Basic Lore:[/b] (Provide a brief summary of the lore around the group or organisation. Include any important details, but avoid superfluous flavour that doesn't impact the broader lore. Keep it brief.

Expanded Lore
If you want to add more detailed lore beyond the basic lore, we reserve the Expanded Lore forum for threads explaining and expanding on a group or organisation. Any posted thread must also be submitted here to ensure they're consistent with pre-established lore and our system.

All relevant information on a single group or organisation must be gathered in a single thread, and labelled clearly.

Code:
[b]Title:[/b] Name of the group or org.
[b]Link:[/b] Link to the expanded lore thread.

Player Inactivity and Original Groups
If a player goes inactive or leaves the site, any group or organisation they have submitted which has seen extended play and shown up in threads won't simply be removed from the site. Admins will decide their fate, whether they disappear into the woodwork, fall apart, or change in the hands of the characters left behind.

Title: House Crowhurst
Location: Primarily the UK, but some cadet branches are found on the European continent.
Interactions with the world: The Crowhurst family of vampire and monster hunters cooperate and work alongside entities such as the Exchange. However, they have a reputation for being more brutal than such official entities. Occasionally, members of the Crowhurst family join the Exchange as Agents, lending their centuries of expertise to the organisation, although sometimes they are also brought on to advise.
Basic Lore: The Crowhurst family are a centuries-old English noble family that has, throughout their existence, been dedicated to vampire hunting and, later, general monster hunting.

Title: Paranormal Task Force, NATO
Location: HQ in Brussels, Belgium, but operates in all NATO countries.
Interactions with the world: Cooperates with the Exchange and local entities if they are called in, although when they’re on the ground they prefer having all the control which can cause sparks. They do appreciate local expertise and usually defer to local know-how when appropriate.
Basic Lore: The PTF deals with extreme cases of magic going awry or larger issues with supernatural monsters, or when the local entities that deal with the supernatural think they need the extra firepower. When they hit the ground, it’s always because they were asked to be there.

Title: The Disciples of Vasuki (NPC Organization, available for backstory and mentions/apperances in threads, but no PC members)

Location: Primarily India with small cells in China, the UK, and North America.

Interactions with the world: The Disciples are long-time enemies of the UK Exchange and at constant odds with supernatural law keepers. They are bad news, the organization being powerful enough to stand their ground. If they cross paths with the law, it often results in bloody conflict.

They have not achieved a foothold in Easthaven, though their agents can be found in Chicago and DC.

Basic Lore: Hailing from India, the Disciples of Vasuki are only a small part of a large Indo-Sino organization. Specifically, they are a branch of the Vasuki family, one of five different sects. A shadowy cadre of criminals, black market artisans, and crime families, they specialize in curses and possession. They are also known for their political meddling, with puppet organizations and bribes.

They are best known for the Scrolls of the Dragon, a library of dangerous scrolls, ancient tomes, and eldritch artifacts hidden away in their vaults, in India and in Erasmus Cross, with a few smaller libraries scattered across China and North America. This is a massive deposit of magical information, the greatest of which is a repository of the true names for thousands of otherworldly beings.

The organization is primarily made up of mundane humans with a proportional percentage of half-bloods and other supernaturals. They are also known for being “for the people”, occupying the working class levels of social strata and drawing in members with promises of wealth and prosperity. As members rise in the ranks, they are given the opportunity to become “Blessed”—either cursed or possessed by beings from the Scrolls of the Dragon.

Title: House Penrose.

Location: They operate primarily in the UK, usually within England and Wales rather than Scotland, Ireland or farther afield.

Interactions with the world: The Penrose Company is known within hunting circles in the UK for being a relatively small organization with a solid reputation for getting the job done when it comes to enforcing the law for supernatural offenders. Larger and much older organizations such as the Exchange are aware of them and acknowledge the value of their efforts, for the most part. They have worked together on a few occasions when the criminal element, as it were, outnumbered the hunters available to combat them. Penrose is likely in the Exchange database, which would include some reference to their contractors and cases.

Basic Lore: The Penrose Family has been hunting supernatural beings who defy the law since the reign of Queen Victoria, who provided them with a Royal Seal to make their role official. Not all members of the family are directly involved in the hunt and they also hire freelance hunters who are paid per contract.

Title: House Penrose. - Wil Carter
(05-27-2023, 03:56 PM)

House Penrose has been added, with one alteration. The Exchange has the sole royal charter to work as a supernatural enforcement and protection agency, although working in the field is not exclusive to them. The Penroses would be an independent group, not sanctioned by any royal.
