It is 129 AC and King Viserys I Targaryen has just taken his last breath. Throughout his reign he continued the prosperous peace and legacy of his grandsire, but after 26 years on the throne, the seeds for the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons would engulf the realm.
Inadvertently sown in his reign, the tensions of the Dance were brewed by the long-term rivalry of Princess Rhaenyra, who was once the Crown Princess, and her half-brother, Aegon. Yet, the secret crowning of Aegon in King's Landing has only just started the war of succession, with Rhaenyra crowning herself on Dragonstone instead.
Westeros is split between its Queen and King, both which take up different residences and courts. Whilst Aegon and the Green faction were first in the race to the Iron Throne, Rhaenyra's advisors would decide that Dragonstone was nothing short of a mere fortress and simply uninhabitable in times of war. The Black faction has since moved into the Eyrie with Lady Arryn's blessing.
Queen Rhaenyra has sworn vengeance, commencing a bloody conflict will see family fight family and dragon fight dragon.
